The Donald's Second Administration: Send in the Clowns!

Image
Isn't it rich? Are we a pair? Me here at last on the ground, you in midair. Where are the clowns? Isn't it bliss? Don't you approve? One who keeps tearing around one who can't move. But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns. Just when I stopped opening doors, finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours. Making my entrance again with my usual flair. Sure of my lines, but no one is there. Don't you love farce? My fault, I fear. I thought that you wanted what I want. Sorry, my dear. But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don't bother, they're here. Isn't it rich? Isn't it queer? Losing my timing this late in my career. But where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns. Well, maybe next year. "Send in the Clowns" was the most famous song in the musical "A Little Night Music." It was about numerous people of the demimonde whose timing was off throughout their lives. Sort of like The Donald's second presidenti...

The Donald's Grand Delusion: Trumpland, Trumpland Über Alles!

Image
Let me clear about one thing: I voted for The Donald in 2016, 2020 and 2024. In 2024, the majority of Americans were fed up with the international and domestic embarrassment of the Biden regime and the Biden Crime Family. Americans have long been accustomed to corruption in politics, but the Biden Crime Family was a case of "just too much," and blatantly so. One can excuse Sloppy Joe because of his obvious senility, which is why the Democratic National Committee kept him out of sight for most of the 2020 campaign. As for his running mate? Kamala Harris was a DEI hire, based on her sex, bi-racial ancestry and the color of her skin. The fact that she was a blithering idiot meant nothing to the DNC. In fact, it was the DNC that ruled the Biden regime. Sloppy Joe and Kamelhead merely reigned. Then came 2024, and The Donald beat the DNC by a healthy margin, both in the popular vote and the Electoral College. It was NOT the landslide that The Donald would later claim. But for one...

When Irresistible Force Meets Immovable Object, Lie!

Image
It's no secret that The Donald and Benny's war against Iran isn't going exactly as they hoped when they started it. Iran didn't collapse; despite the horrendous amounts of death and destruction The Donald and Benny have inflicted upon them, Iran's massive retaliation against them has proved that they might be bloodied but unbowed. This fact has pissed off The Donald and Benny more than somewhat, especially since the allies of the US in the Persian Gulf and Israel itself are facing the brunt of Iran's wrath, which might be lessening but not completely abating. The biggest problem with The Donald and Benny's war is one of credibility. Nobody can truly believe everything and anything they say about their war. That's because The Donald and Benny are inveterate liars. Don't get me wrong, most politicians ARE liars, especially in supposedly democratic regimes that are subject to the will of their peoples and face re-election challenges at regular intervals...

Seh die Welt in Trümmern Liegen! (See the world lying in ruins!)

Image
These are the last lines of Nena's international hit song 99 Luftballons . And they apply nowadays more than ever. The old "world order" is clearly dead and the new "world order" hasn't quite worked out the way that The Donald wanted. Yet he is the new "world order's" primary architect. Surrounded by a war mongering cabal who are "yes" men and ass kissers, the world has learned that The Donald does NOT ask for advice of his advisors. He gives them orders, to which most of them happily comply, they being no better than he. The prime example of The Donald's cabal is Pete Hegseth, his Secretary for War. The position was formerly called Secretary for Defense. Changing the title was a hint of the...

The Donald is Angry: NATO Won't Pull His Chestnuts Out of the Iran Fire For Him!

Image
Apparently, The Donald is a bit confused. As well as pissed. He claimed that the US had already won its war against Iran while the war is still ongoing. Then he "invited" NATO nations to send battleships to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil supply must travel and which Iran has effectively closed off. This has created a global energy crisis. The Persian Gulf region also produces about 40% of the world's fertilizer, the loss of which will undoubtedly result in global food shortages. Actually, The Donald didn't so much as invite NATO nations to participate as to threaten them if they didn't, which is his typical bullying tactic, which has largely worked before. Only it's not working now. Saying "bad things will happen to NATO" if that alliance doesn't participate isn't working. Not this time. NATO was originally conceived as a defensive alliance after WW II aimed at containing the exp...

There'll be Bombs for Christmas: The War in Ukraine Continues!

Image
Ahh, Christmas is upon us. The season of peace and good will towards men. Which, of course, is a lovely fairy tale with no basis in reality. Particularly in Ukraine, where the war keeps dragging on, despite US President Donald Trump's campaign promise that he could end the war in one day. The Donald, once inaugurated for his second term as president, didn't. And couldn't. When push comes to shove, the Donald is basically an elitist who likes to play with the "Big Boys" among political and business leaders. It is only with lesser and weaker people does he feel confident to throw his considerable weight around. It's only with countries like Venezuela that he can afford to threaten to make war. Such is the typical behavior of bullies, which is why Hsi and Putin laugh at The Donald's bluster and are not particularly frightened of him. In fact, it is The Donald's peculiar bromance with Putin, to wean him away from Hsi, that has become a source of hilarity a...

RIP, NATO!

Image
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is effectively dead. Conceived to prevent further Soviet expansion in Europe and bankrolled largely by the United States, it was merely a paper tiger and rarely effective anywhere. It took NATO a good long time to counter Serbia's genocide against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo at the turn of the 21st century, while it ignored Serbia's similar attempts at genocide against Muslims in Bosnia Herzegovina (ethnic cleansing) just a few years earlier. Go figure. One can argue that neither case involved states or territories that were part of NATO, yet NATO ignored the one case but involved itself in the second. Which, quite frankly, could provide NATO with an excuse to intervene in Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine. If they had the balls to. Which they don't. Then, after 9-11 in the US, then President George W. Bush called upon NATO to make war against the terrorists based in Afghanistan who perpetrated that outrage. The result wa...

Hungary's Viktor Orban: "The Frogmouth" Redux!

Image
It's a case of life imitating art! "The Flintstones," an American cartoon series from the 1960's featured an episode titled "The Frogmouth." "The Frogmouth" was a stage play was about an unimportant, obnoxious, abrasive, loudmouth, and the director of the play felt that Fred Flintstone was a natural for the role. Fast forward to the 21st century, to real life in the real world. Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has become "The Frogmouth!" Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of frogmouths in the world of politics, especially among populists. US President Trump and Russia's President Putin are two such examples on the world stage. Along with China's President Xi, they are the three most powerful men in the world. They can afford to be rude, crude, abrasive and aggressive because there is nobody out there powerful enough to stop them or even effectively resist them. And then there's Viktor Orban, whose pretensions ...

Erdogan Orders the Arrest of the Mayor of Istanbul! Let's Talk Turkey!

Image
For a few brief shiny moments, it looked as if the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, would be the solution for ending the war in Ukraine. Erdogan offered to provide the setting for negotiating the end of the war. He also stated that he had the manpower and the war materiel to act as a peacekeeper in Ukraine to act as a guarantor. In fact, Turkey's military is larger than that of anything the European Union can quickly muster (second only to NATO's dubious forces) and has been manufacturing and exporting weapons in huge quantities for years, some of which he sold to Ukraine. He has also been actively involved in Syria's civil war, which has provided his military with experience in war settings. At the same time, Erdogan has maintained relatively civil relations with Putin, refusing to enforce the European Union's sanctions against Russia while purchasing gas and oil from them. Meanwhile, Erdogan has stated that Ukraine's territorial integrity must be restore...

From Russia, With Love!

Image
Watching the leaders of the European Union and their associates scamper to organize ways to protect themselves in the wake of US President Donald Trump's deserting them would almost be amusing if the consequences weren't so catastrophic. As stated in previous blogs, the success of the European Union has always been predicated upon one thing: The USA. It was American money, war materiel and men that allowed for the EU's prosperity and quick expansion into the Eastern European states that were once part of the Soviet bloc. Similarly, those states were quickly admitted into NATO, the military alliance originally created to protect its member state from Soviet aggression. It gave the EU a false sense of security and the belief that the US would always provide support for them almost unquestioned. Given this mindset, the EU never imagined that they would have to protect themselves, hence their lack of coordination among its individual states' military and a complete lack of ...

"Sir" Keir Starmer's Summit to Aid Ukraine: A Study in Absurdity.

Image
"Sir" Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, hosted a summit meeting in London on Sunday, the purpose of which was to come up with proposals to end the war in Ukraine that would leave that nation sovereign and independent. It was a study in absurdity, because the proposal that this meeting ultimately arrived at was to be presented to US President Donald Trump for his approval. That won't be forthcoming any time soon. President Trump and his vice president publicly humiliated Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday and the latter quickly left the White House and America to head to London for Starmer's summit meeting. President Trump made it clear that Zelenskyy had better come back begging for him to "settle" the war in Ukraine...under Russia's terms, which would effectively end Ukraine's independence. President Trump is clearly uninterested in Ukraine's survival or that of NATO or even of the European Union, which ...

The War in Ukraine Has Begun: Putin Tells the World to Go Eff Itself!

Image
The war in Ukraine has begun. People have already died in this new war. It has been expected for months, yet world leaders have done nothing to seriously dissuade Russia's Putin from going to war. Now that the war has begun in earnest, despite all of the "diplomacy" used to prevent it, world leaders are condemning it. That includes the United Nations, which has long been an expensive, impotent forum for world opinion. And doing nothing. To be sure, world leaders have threatened Putin with economic sanctions against Russia if he went to war. And yes, they did provide Ukraine with wholly inadequate amounts of money and war materiel to be used against the Russian powerhouse should war come. But that is all. Because they are afraid of provoking Putin into a nuclear world war. Putin himself has stated to the world powers scolding him that they had better not interfere with his plans for Ukraine, because there would be "consequences you have never seen." This was espe...

"What We Learn From History Is That We Do Not Learn From History:" Kabul, 2021.

Image
Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, fell to the Taliban this past weekend and with it the effective government of that nation. It was not unexpected. The US and our NATO allies have been leaving for months, although there was still a sizable US presence in Afghanistan, as well as tens of thousands of native Afghanis who were associated with the Western Powers whose lives were therefore at risk after our departure. What shocked the world is the swiftness with which the Taliban captured Kabul, since the US blithely informed everyone that such an event was months away and the the western withdrawal could continue in a slow, steady pace. Then, pow! The Taliban took over, chaos reigned in Kabul as tens of thousands of people tried to get to the airport to escape on US transports out of the country, more Americans were trapped in other parts of Afghanistan... And President Joe Biden? He was on vacation. Yet, there was a sense of deja vu about this. We HAD been there before, in Saigon, w...
