Controversial Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced her resignation earlier this week. It will take effect on August 31, so she has another three weeks to milk to office for all that it's worth. Monroe County NY includes the dying City of Rochester. In a rather mawkishly sentimental statement, she announced that, at 62, it was time for her to ride off into the sunset. Many people would argue that she should have left a long time ago. But, at 62, with 33 years in the DA's Office, and 13 of them as its head honcho, she will be able to collect a healthy pension in full. Monroe County's first female District Attorney is most famous for offering "The Deal," by which violent criminals and white-collar felons are allowed to plead down to lesser charges for reduced sentences. Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is a liar. A big one. Even among politicians, that is quite a remarkable feat. Most people living in so-called "democracies," especially the western ones, have grown accustomed to usual political lying, especially during election years when grandiose promises are made to sway voters and keep themselves in office. The European Union, at first glance, appears to be a powerful geo-political entity. Composed of most of the "democracies" of the Western European continent, including the economic powerhouse of Germany, it has tried to pose as one of the world's superpowers. Only it isn't. Comprised of frequently quarreling member states, possessed of a complicated and cumbersome constitutional framework that reveals its impotence daily in the European Parliament, its much-touted successes have always been dependent on the military might of the United States to protect it from itself and the threats to it posed by Russia and her allies. The Democrats had their primary election in the City of Rochester, New York today. Only registered Democrats were allowed to vote in Rochester, since there were no contests with a multitude of Republicans vying for the same seats. Since Rochester IS a one-party town, the results of the Democratic primary effectively predetermines the results of the general election in November. But we must go through with that farce to preserve the illusion of democracy, and much about democratic politics in the United States is illusionary. Or delusionary. The Republicans have long since ceased to be an effective force for anything within Rochester, having abandoned it for the more lucrative, less crime-ridden but no less corrupt suburbs. Greta Thunberg is in the news again! She needs no introduction to those of us who have been subjected to the progressive liberal media's tortured attempts in the last decade to make a heroine of her. The bromance between the world's most powerful man, US President Donald Trump and the world's richest man, Elon Musk has ended. It was inevitable that the relationship would end, because both men are too similar for any bromance to last. Both are narcissists. Both are exhibitionists, perpetually seeking the spotlight and taking center stage. The only thing that prevents them from donning trench coats and seeking the thrill of exposing themselves on streetcorners is that neither of them are blessed with faces or figures that make such actions amusing or interesting to others.
