The Donald is Angry: NATO Won't Pull His Chestnuts Out of the Iran Fire For Him!

 Apparently, The Donald is a bit confused.

As well as pissed.

He claimed that the US had already won its war against Iran while the war is still ongoing.

Then he "invited" NATO nations to send battleships to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil supply must travel and which Iran has effectively closed off.

This has created a global energy crisis.

The Persian Gulf region also produces about 40% of the world's fertilizer, the loss of which will undoubtedly result in global food shortages.

Actually, The Donald didn't so much as invite NATO nations to participate as to threaten them if they didn't, which is his typical bullying tactic, which has largely worked before.

Only it's not working now.

Saying "bad things will happen to NATO" if that alliance doesn't participate isn't working.

Not this time.

NATO was originally conceived as a defensive alliance after WW II aimed at containing the expansion of Communism and the now defunct Soviet Union.

The idea was that if one of the member states was attacked by an outside aggressor, all of the member states would act in unison to protect the victim.

In this case, it was The Donald and Israel's Netanyahu who attacked Iran.

They were the aggressors and have chosen to ignore internationals law regarding their conduct during this was.

And neither of them foresaw Iran's closing the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation, while a good many intelligent people in the world considered that to be a distinct possibility on Iran's part.

That was their biggest mistake, but typical of them.

Neither really had any concrete plans for Iran after their war was concluded, despite The Donald and Benny's pious claim that they were freeing the Iranian people from tyranny.

And killing civilians in the process.

So, the most powerful European members of NATO bluntly declined to participate.

They tactfully pointed out that The Donald and Benny were the aggressors, and that Israel was never part of NATO anyway.

Furthermore, NATO tactfully pointed out that the US was NOT sending its battleships to open up the Strait of Hormuz.

Some other NATO members simply replied, "Not OUR war."

Which is true enough.

Which pissed The Donald off, eliciting his reply that NATO expected the US to protect the whole world (which is true enough) and that they never helped the US out in conflicts before.

Which is a lie.

On September 11, 2001, when the US was attacked, NATO promptly supported the US, following it into protracted wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, losing money and lives in the process.

This was at the behest of a Republican president, George "Dubya" Bush.

And the end results were disastrous.

But they DID fulfill their obligations, which The Donald has either forgotten or is ignoring.

The other members of NATO haven't forgotten that fact and are no longer taking The Donald's threats into consideration.

Non-NATO allies, like Japan and Australia, to whom The Donald reached out, also said "No."

Japan pointed out that its peace treaty after WW II effectively prohibited using its military and materiel for foreign wars, while Australia's prime minister claims that he was not asked specifically to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz. 

South Korea stated that they would help within limits, because The Donald shipped out men and weaponry to participate in the war against Iran, leaving South Korea's ability to resist aggression from North Korea much reduced.

The Donald even turned to Russia and China to help in dealing with Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, but they have no need of his good opinion nor a willingness to accommodate his demands or requests.

So now The Donald rails against everyone he can no longer bully regarding Iran.

Which bugs him to the point of mania.

So he and his creature in the US government strike arrogant poses to deflect the public from observing that the war isn't going his way.

But the US already won the war, right?
