My Take on Rochester's Mayoral Candidate Debate Tonight!







 

Mayor Warren whupped Evans' ass in the debate.

She was the consummate political performer. He, a dismal  amateur who is a tad too old to play the ingenue.

The best Evans could come up with were glittering generalities: "Restoring, rebuilding, trusting transparency, and building bridges that have been broken."

Whatever the Hell that is supposed to really mean.

Their statements revealed that neither are playing with a full deck and that both believe in federal subsidies paid for by people who work.

Whoever wins the General Election in November, Rochester loses.

Pope Francis Dies: I Come to Bury Him...

Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome and spiritual leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics around the world, died on Monday. He was 88 years old and in poor health for some time. Pope Francis died shortly after meeting with US Vice President JD Vance, himself a covert to Roman Catholicism. What effect that might have had on the Pope's health is anyone's guess. But as soon as the Pope was dead, the Vatican's PR team immediately sprang into action to sing his praises. As a lapsed Catholic who had been subjected to the rigors of a Catholic primary school education, I have long disregarded the importance of anything the Popes said or did. It's quite apparent that most "devout" Roman Catholics do the same but haven't got the courage of their convictions to say so. The City of Rochester, NY Democratic Primary! Surprise! There IS No surprise!

The Democrats had their primary election in the City of Rochester, New York today. Only registered Democrats were allowed to vote in Rochester, since there were no contests with a multitude of Republicans vying for the same seats. Since Rochester IS a one-party town, the results of the Democratic primary effectively predetermines the results of the general election in November. But we must go through with that farce to preserve the illusion of democracy, and much about democratic politics in the United States is illusionary. Or delusionary. The Republicans have long since ceased to be an effective force for anything within Rochester, having abandoned it for the more lucrative, less crime-ridden but no less corrupt suburbs. Just look at the Republican dominated Town of Greece, adjacent to Rochester on its northwest!
