Rochester mayor Lovely A. Warren: It's All About Me!

By now, everyone in the US knows that there was a drug raid on Rochester mayor Lovely A. Warren's home on Wednesday, May 19.

It was conducted by the NYS Police after seven months of investigation, at the prompting of the Monroe County DA's office.

Usually, such raids also involve the local police departments. In this case, RPD's interim police chief was not notified. The DA and the NYS Police didn't trust her NOT to inform the mayor of the investigation or the raid.

The state troopers arrested Mayor Warren's husband, Tim Granison. They also removed more than two kilos of cocaine, $100,000 in cash, a loaded pistol (illegal) and a rifle from Mayor Warren's home.

Granison, as a convicted felon for an earlier crime in his late teens, is not allowed to own firearms.

Yesterday, Mayor Warren held a press conference about this event.

She did nothing wrong, she said. She and Granison had been legally separated for years, she said, and were only living together for the sake of their daughter, Taylor.

Mayor Warren went on to say that the raid was politically motivated to spoil her re-election chances in the local Democratic primary next month.

She also said that the raid was the product of racism.

Racism is the excuse that Mayor Warren uses repeatedly when she's thwarted or opposed.

Racism has been very good to her in that respect.

It's even stupider when one considers that the leading contender for the mayoral throne is Malik Evans, a Black man.

She has already accused him of sexism for daring to run for what she and her team regard as HER office.

As for her statement that she had done nothing wrong, that's probably true enough, but didn't she notice the company her supposedly "estranged," live-in husband was keeping?

There was no mention of her own two cousins who were also arrested, elsewhere, during this action.

Didn't she clean her home and notice firearms there, especially a rifle? A pistol, of course, is relatively easy to conceal, as would two kilos of cocaine.

She didn't dwell on that.

She preferred to talk politics about this incident, how it was really directed at her, rather than Granison.

But that has been her usual rant about everything, revealing for all to see that paranoia in government was not just limited to the Nixon White House. It is alive and well in the Warren administration, and has been since Day One.
