Jaquise Davis: The Victim Who Wasn't!

It was such a sad story.

Sixteen-year-old Jaquise Davis was coming home from work at Walmart on the night of August 8 this year.

On Pennsylvania Avenue, where he lived, a car was speeding down the street.

It was a stolen car, taken at gunpoint from the corner of Garson Avenue and North Goodman Street just moments before.

Just as Jaquise entered his home, a gunshot rang out and he was killed, an innocent bystander in Rochester's ongoing "Murder Marathon."

Immediately, the media went to work!

Friends and family stated what a "good boy" Jaquise was, so kind and helpful.

Citygov dusted off its usual statement at how shocked they were at this senseless crime.

East High School announced that they were providing emotional support and counselors for students who were aggrieved by their friend's death.

And the family created a "Go Fund Me" account to help with the expenses of the funeral and to give Jaquise a decent send off.

Such a tragic story of a nice young man's life cut short in the Murder Capital of New York State.

It tugs at one's heart strings.

Only none of it is true.

And the local news media was only too willing to take the story at face value.

Jaquise Davis was NOT coming home from work, unless you consider carjacking to have been his job.

It was he and a buddy who brandished a gun when carjacking the vehicle that was later cruising down Pennsylvania Avenue afterwards, taking him home.

It was he who accidentally and fatally shot himself with that gun when entering his home.

This was revealed yesterday after an investigation of the incident was concluded, and only perfunctorily reported on by our local news media.

What the media has failed to report upon is who removed the gun from the scene?

Obviously, the family did.

Its absence from the scene would make Jaquise appear to be a victim rather than a criminal and people would pity the family rather than chastise them for raising a thug.

Will they be brought up on charges of tampering with evidence?

They and their allies will shriek that they have already suffered enough!

As for the "Go Fund Me" account?

It was created under false pretenses. Not too many people would contribute to the funeral of an armed criminal who accidentally shot himself fatally with the weapon he carried to commit his crime.

Will that money be returned?

I presume that most of it has been spent on giving Jaquise his send off.

It is incidents like these that sour the milk of human kindness and make people question tales of innocent bystanders being shot and killed by gang activity.

We have been lied to and the family sought to extort money from us by preying upon our sympathy.

And we have gang activity aplenty here in Rochester that Citygov chooses to ignore.

By the way, where IS that "gang specialist" they hired to head up Pathways to Peace?

You know, Anthony Hall who was fired during the Warren regime, only to have the new mayor's cousin re-hire him when the administration changed over in January.

All that can be said is that his early death ended the criminal career of Jaquise Davis, a sixteen-year-old armed carjacker who accidentally killed himself with the same weapon he used to commit his crime as he was entering the relative safety of his own home.

Ironic, isn't it?

Not to worry.

Some of the bleeding hearts out there will blame it on systemic racism and White privilege.

It is their answer to everything, especially when it doesn't apply.

At least Jaquise's death can't be listed as a homicide...anymore.

But not to worry, there will plenty of others to come.

This is, after all, Rochester, New York!

  1. It's sad! Another young life ended without a chance to repent. Not much anybody can do about him now😢 but what is being done to stop these senseless shenanigans from continuing?

    1. The senseless shenanigans will cease when the punishments become enforced and punitive enough to convince people committing crimes are not worth the cost.
Let's not forget how his family tried to cover up the facts behind Jaquise's death as well as providing cock-and-bull stories about what a good boy he was.
