Rochester Mayor Mahweak Evans Wins the Monroe County Democratic Committee's Endorsement. Do Tell.

The Monroe County Democratic Committee has endorsed Rochester mayor Mahweak Evans' bid for re-election.

I am notably underwhelmed.

As an incumbent, Mahweak would have always been the committee's first choice, unless there was an outstanding local Democratic politician with a huge support base to pit against him.

There is none.

True, City Council Vice President Crazy Mary Lupien already threw her hat into the ring a month ago, but her woke progressive liberal rants can be viewed more as comedy relief than a serious platform upon which to run for mayor.

Crazy Mary claims that Mahweak hasn't done much during his four years as mayor.

That's true enough, but then, neither has she, other than providing Rochester with an endless source of hilarity regarding her woke progressive antics and rants.

She won't win a primary, if her campaign lasts that long.

Mahweak claims that he will remain focused violence, youth outreach, housing and economics.

Still?

The third candidate, Shashi Sinha, is a local businessman whom nobody ever heard of before.

He claims he wants to combat homelessness and make it easier for the police department to do its job.

For the latter reason, he would get my vote.

But he won't survive a primary either.

One has to be amused by this line up, however: A Black man, a White woman and an ethnic New American.

All of the woke progressive liberal boxes have been checked, but the Democratic Committee still chose Mahweak because he is a "proven vote getter."

If they are referring to his election in 2021, it was hardly inspirational.

Mahweak won on the "I am not Lovely Warren" platform.

Lovely Warren was the then-incumbent mayor seeking re-election, but her campaign was plagued by personal and political scandals, as well as an overwhelming ego that gave Mahweak the advantage in the primary election, with no superior qualities of his own to fall back on.

The voter turnout for the Democratic Primary was low that year, anyway, which suggests that most people weren't overly concerned about which candidate would steer Rochester on its path to Hell.

As of yet, there is no Republican candidate for Mayor of Rochester.

There probably won't be, since the city of Rochester is owned by the Democrats and has been for nearly fifty years and the Republicans have abandoned it to its fate.

One might ask why should the Republicans waste their time, effort and money to save a dying city?

At any rate, Mahweak will probably win the primary election, which means that there will be only one candidate for mayor on the ballot come November, just like in every totalitarian regime in the world.

Which also means that I will have to write in a candidate for mayor on my ballot.

I end up having to do that in every election here for the local elected offices.

We now await the endless stream of political advertisements on the media, in our mailboxes and on our telephones, which really aren't going to sway anyone, anyway.

If most people bother to vote at all.

With the Democrats in charge of our dying city, it really doesn't matter who ascends th mayoral throne, because they aren't going to change anything.

All we are going to get is more of the same.

It's hardly an encouragement to vote.
