"Tariff" is NOT a "Four-Letter word!"

Woke progressive liberals the world over had a hissy fit when Donald Trump won a second, non-consecutive term as President of the United States.

It was not because he is a megalomaniacal, crude, rude and abrasive loudmouth.

President Trump IS all of those things, but he is first and foremost an American, and proud of it.

That's what bothers our erstwhile friends and foes alike.

President Trump has campaigned on promoting a protectionist "America First" policy, which is a slap in the face of the globalists who were hoping for a continuation of the political, social and economic perversion of Bidenism under Sloppy Joe's brainless second banana, Kamelhead Harris.

They were counting on the US piggy bank to be forever open for them upon demand, never mind the disastrous effects such "charity" was having on the American economy.

Trump's "second coming" spelled an end to that, much to their displeasure and to that of well-meaning but sadly ignorant woke progressive liberals in America itself.

President Trump made it clear that he was opposed to globalism during his campaign and, promptly upon his inauguration, withdrew the US from the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organization, which had made such a mess of handling the Covid pandemic.

He might as well withdraw from the United Nations as well, since the majority of its member states are third world dictatorships, with raging civil wars and brutal human rights violations, who criticize and condemn the US while demanding foreign aid to prop up their cruelly repulsive regimes.

At least the Trump administration is suspending all foreign aid until the pertinent agencies have been investigated for the validity of their financial demands.

Since the US is the largest provider of financial aid the world over, it is no wonder that the globalists and third world dictatorships are having a meltdown.

Tant pis.

But the biggest of many shockwaves produced by President Trump in the two weeks since he was inaugurated has been the imposition of 25% trade tariffs on Canada and Mexico, our two neighbors and closest trading partners.

The additional 10% trade tariff against China is rather inconsequential, since President Trump already imposed a 10% tariff the first time around and China is a known enemy of US interests the world over.

President Trump's reasoning for the tariffs against Canada and Mexico are simple. Those countries have not secured their borders with the US, have allowed illegals to enter and have not been particularly concerned with preventing illegal drugs like fentanyl passing through their countries and into the US.

Oddly enough, both of those countries blame China for fentanyl, while forgetting it was their own lax attitude that allowed the drug to travel freely through them and into the US!

The European Union and the United Kingdom immediately expressed their dismay, fearing that President Trump might invoke the same measures against them to equalize trade imbalances between the US and them, especially now with their lackluster economies and inevitable political swing to the right in their several states frightening the leadership there.

Yet within 24 hours, President Trump suspended the tariffs against Mexico and Canada for a month, since he was able to reach a deal about them better policing their borders and working with the US to prevent drug and human trafficking.

Canada and Mexico, in turn, suspended their trade tariffs against the US, which they had enacted in retaliation to the US tariffs!

In short, the threat of tariffs was used merely to initiate negotiations with Canada and Mexico, which had proved to be uncooperative in dealing with these issues...until Trump retook office.

Now that's diplomacy!

Hopefully other states will learn to see reason from this little lesson, and that they can't guilt the US into doing their bidding anymore.

As for the latte liberals who were upset about potential price increases on avocados for their guacamole dip, have an apple! It might not be as chic at their cocktail parties, but there are plenty of apples in America!
