Ursula von der Leyen and the Definition of Stupidity.

One definition of stupidity is "To repeat the same failed actions numerous times but expecting a different and successful result this time."

The European Commission's head honcho and tough titty Ursula von der Leyen announced yesterday that she was imposing a 19th package of sanctions against Putin's Russia.

This is supposed to somehow help to end Russia's war of aggression in the Ukraine.

And the previous 18 package of sanctions against Putin's Russia?

What did they accomplish?

Why, absolutely nothing.

Putin is winning the war in Ukraine.

He has been unimpressed by the babbling of western European "democracies" since he forcibly annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, and despite all 18 ensuing packages of sanctions, the European Union STILL does business with Russia, either directly or in a roundabout way.

For that matter, so does the United States.

So, what will the 19th package of sanctions do to hurt Russia?

Why, absolutely nothing.

And that is the definition of stupidity.

Ukraine is unable to survive on its own.

The European Union is both unprepared to openly make war on Russia in support of Ukraine and is too frightened of both Putin and The Donald to do so.

NATO, without the explicit support of The Donald, won't make a serious military move against Putin.

They are still running around like chickens with their heads cut off about the 19 drones Putin send into Poland a few days ago and don't know how to proceed.

Like the Keystone Kops!

Then Putin found it necessary to send a warplane over Estonia's air space yesterday to tease NATO and the European Union, which promptly sent them into yet another panic.

So, Ursula found it necessary to announce her 19th package of sanctions against Putin's Russia, without troubling to tell us what exceptions this package will permit.

It is the exceptions in all previous 18 packages that made them ineffective in the long run.

In fact, it was those exceptions that caused the European Parliament to agree to them in the first place.

And she will still need to have the European Parliament agree to this latest charade.

Frankly, I almost wet myself laughing when I heard her announcement.

Probably, Putin did as well.

Still, you have to give Ursula credit for trying. And trying. And trying the same thing over and over again with nothing different happening.

The definition of stupidity.
