There'll be Bombs for Christmas: The War in Ukraine Continues!

Ahh, Christmas is upon us.

The season of peace and good will towards men.

Which, of course, is a lovely fairy tale with no basis in reality.

Particularly in Ukraine, where the war keeps dragging on, despite US President Donald Trump's campaign promise that he could end the war in one day.

The Donald, once inaugurated for his second term as president, didn't.

And couldn't.

When push comes to shove, the Donald is basically an elitist who likes to play with the "Big Boys" among political and business leaders.

It is only with lesser and weaker people does he feel confident to throw his considerable weight around.

It's only with countries like Venezuela that he can afford to threaten to make war.

Such is the typical behavior of bullies, which is why Hsi and Putin laugh at The Donald's bluster and are not particularly frightened of him.

In fact, it is The Donald's peculiar bromance with Putin, to wean him away from Hsi, that has become a source of hilarity and disgust worldwide.

Putin, for his part, is treating The Donald in the fashion of any well-kept woman of the demimonde treats a young, star-struck young boy. He's taking The Donald for everything and giving nothing in return.

Nothing except words.

And The Donald, megalomaniac that he is, doesn't see it or is willing to admit to it.

Peace in Ukraine has always been up to Putin.

NOT to The Donald.

NOT to the European Union.

NOT to Zelenskiy or the Ukrainian people.

Which is why The Donald proffered a 28 point "Peace" Plan which would give Putin everything he wanted in Ukraine, as a prelude to annexing the whole country when the world was elsewhere distracted, which gave Ukraine no actual assurances of its continued existence as a sovereign state after they accepted the deal.

The Donald always likes to make deals.

In this case, The Donald believes such a peace would guarantee him the Nobel Peace Prize next year, which he doesn't deserve, anyway.

This Peace Plan was unacceptable to Zelenskiy and the European Union, who came up with a counter proposal consisting of 18 points, and then presented it to President Trump, who promptly sent his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to negotiate.

While they have all claimed these talks have made "great progress," they have chosen to ignore the fact the Putin has disregarded their efforts.

He will have all or nothing and continues to bomb both civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, while his armies nibble away at more Ukrainian territories in the East.

Despite The Donald claiming that he wants the killing to stop, Putin is unconcerned about such pious statements.

He doesn't care how many people die so he can resurrect the old Soviet Union.

As Stalin once said, one death is a tragedy; ten million are a statistic.

Which is Putin's sentiment exactly

Putin knows that The Donald would never go to war with him over Ukraine, and that the European Union is too weak to go it alone without the United States.

So, he can sit back and wait.

At the same time, too  much has been made of the latest corruption scandal in the Ukraine, which resulted in Zelenskiy's second banana resigning his office.

While this doesn't look good in the middle of all of these delicate negations that are heading nowhere fast, political corruption in Ukraine since the old Soviet Union disintegrated is nothing new.

In fact, corruption in most governments throughout the world is as common as pig tracks, including our own, so not too much should be made of it.

But it DOES provide Putin with another stick with which to beat Zelenskiy over the head, another case of the pot calling the kettle black.

So, the western "democracies" will have more talks and conferences, devising "peace" plans that Putin will never accept, illustrating their impotence before the whole world.

Putin will continue to sit back and laugh at the west, knowing time is on his side.

And The Donald will continue to blame Ukraine, despite the fact that Putin started the war.

So, this is Christmas...in Ukraine.

Hopefully, Ukrainians will get coal in their stockings.

That would actually be a good thing for those who will still be alive on Christmas Day.

They will need it to keep warm, because Putin keeps bombing their power grids and energy infrastructure.
