Regarding the Latest Chapter of the Iranian Wars: What Happens Now?

The latest chapter in the wars against Iran is on!

And The Donald and Benny have seriously miscalculated this one.

On Friday, in broad daylight, The Donald and Benny attacked Iran.

The day before, The Donald didn't get the complete capitulation of Iran in meetings to eliminate the ayatollahs' nuclear capacity for all time, to reduce its military strike capacity and to end its support of proxies in the Middle East whose intent is the utter destruction of the State of Israel.

Such acquiescence would have reduced Iran to the position of a US puppet.

During these meetings there was NO mention of moderating Iran's repressive regime on its own people, nor of a change in regime.

The simple fact is that The Donald and Benny don't give two shits about the Iranian people. They wanted Iran to be defanged, weakened and no longer a threat to US and Israeli interests.

The Donald doesn't take rejection well, so on Friday morning he and his relatively faithful lapdog Benny attacked Iran, destroying military installations, civilian targets and ultimately killing Iran's Supreme Leader, his family and close government officials.

That such actions were in violation of international law did not bother The Donald or Benny, as they have both flouted it before without any serious repercussions.

Come to think of it, most political leaders the world over pay no attention to international law if they think they can get away with it.

Russia's Putin comes to mind here.

The Donald and Benny then chose to address the Iranian people, telling them to rise up and take control of their government!

Which shows how delusional both men are!

They were then surprised by the swiftness of Iran's retaliation, which destroyed US and Israeli targets. American lives were lost, which The Donald said earlier was a risk he was willing to take.

Civilians in Israel were killed, too.

The Donald and Benny thought that their initial attacks on Iran would bring its capitulation, and a regime change of compliant sheep willing to accede to all of the US and Israel's demands for "peace."

Instead, Iran started bombing civilian and industrial targets in the Gulf region.

It was these emirates, sultanates and kingdoms that counted on the US to protect them and their wealth.

Only it wasn't happening.

Nor was there the collapse of Iran's regime that The Donald and Benny happily anticipated.

True, their bombing killed the Supreme Leader, his family and high-ranking officials in his regime, but the attacks didn't kill all of them.

The regime survived under leaders who were just as intent on retaliating against the US, Israel and their allies along the Persian Gulf.

Then there was no huge domestic uprising against the regime when the Iranian government conceded that the Supreme Leader had, indeed, been killed in the bombing attacks.

True, many Iranians in Iran celebrated his death, as did expatriate Iranians the world over.

But many Iranians seriously mourned the death of their Supreme Leader and were thus encouraged to fight on.

Which is exactly what they are doing.

The Donald and Benny didn't comprehend that possibility, which shows yet again another misjudgment on their part.

Besides, the Iranian military and the regime's security police have all the weapons, and they are not afraid to use them against protesters.

They literally killed thousands of unarmed protesters in the streets just a few weeks ago at the command of the Supreme Leader.

Undoubtedly that will not change under the current leadership.

So, despite the encouragement of The Donald and Benny for the Iranians to take their government back, that simply isn't happening.

So, what happens now?

Well, continuing to attack Iran with no positive gains isn't economically feasible for either Israel or the US, especially with the US's $40 trillion deficit, which is completely unserviceable as it is.

Continuing the war with Iran at the current level will only make that debt worse.

As for the Iranian government?

A change of government seems unlikely, given the Supreme Leader's successors are just a zealous as he was to preserve the theocracy.

A less extreme group of leaders willing to make peace by capitulation to The Donald's demands seems unlikely because they will be tainted by defeat, and therefore, by treachery.

It is unlikely that such a scenario will materialize.

There is, of course another unlikely possibility for peace, which really comes under the heading of "Comedy Relief:" Restoring the Shah!

Yep.

The son of the last Shah, who was deposed and went into exile in 1979, has come forward, declaring that he is willing to act as a "caretaker" until the Iranian people.

Reza Pahlavi was a teenager when his family went into exile and hasn't been back in Iran for 47 years!

True, a lot of the protesters in and outside of Iran demanded the return of the Shah as an alternative to the theocratic rule of the Ayatollah, but the protesters really had no other single person around which to unite and make a part of their program.

At the same time, there is no way of knowing if such a platform is agreeable to all Iranians who wanted their government to be reformed.

But Reza is not concerned with such trivialities.

HE sees himself as the natural solution to the Iranian problem.

The Donald and Benny don't...and never did.

But then, they never really concerned themselves with how Iran would be run, or even if they would be allowed to run their own government, after they were defeated.

Reza Pahlavi was never a part of their equation.

So Pahlavi offered The Donald and Benny a bribe of trillions of dollars' worth of Iran's assets if they would promote him to interim caretake of Iran's post-war government!

Imagine! Giving away money that isn't his to buy a country that he has been in since he was a boy!

Talk about chutzpah!

Apparently, Reza has forgotten that the Pahlavi Dynasty usurped the throne only in 1925 and was on it for little more than fifty years before his father was overthrown.

Apparently, Reza has forgotten the repressive measures of his father's regime, to kill, imprison and torture people who disagreed with him.

Apparently, Reza never heard of SAVAK, his father's brutal security force.

But he wants to come back and play at leader.

He will probably do just as badly as his father if he gets the chance to try.

Be he won't get the chance.

Where does that leave us, the Middle East and the world?

Really, up shit creek without a paddle.

Neither The Donald nor Benny thought this whole thing through.

Yes, they got their war with Iran (again), but they both miscalculated on how swiftly Iran could retaliate. And how they retaliate. And against who they would retaliate.

They miscalculated on a popular uprising in Iran to pull their chestnuts out of the fire for them, when they earned the resentment of those Iranians who lost family members in the bombing campaign against their country.

To do so at the bidding of The Donald and Benny would seem unpatriotic if not downright treasonous.

And to install an Iranian government to The Donald and Benny's liking would require the absolute defeat and destruction of Iran, which they are unprepared to do and incapable of doing otherwise.

And instability will remain a feature of the Middle East.

As of this writing, Israel has chosen now is the time to attack Lebanon again. Iran's proxies there have chosen to attack Israel in response to Irael and the US attacking Iran.

And so it will go on.

Perhaps the clownish activities of Reza Pahlavi will cheer everyone up!
