A Fun-House Mirror: The Warped Reflections of the Decaying US Government!

 

Anyone who has ever visited an amusement park, a fun fair or traveling carnival has experienced the thrill of fun house mirrors.

These mirrors are so crafted as to distort the images of the viewer into all sorts of weird shapes and sizes.

But what happens when the person or object casting their reflections into such a mirror are already pathetic caricatures, like the US government?

Does the mirror make their reflections look normal, or even worse?

That is the question.

Okay!

We all know that The Donald is downright crazy!

Because he is also the US president, he is downright dangerous.

Even worse, as head of the Trump Crime Family, he has enriched them by billions of dollars at the taxpayers' expense, which is a good deal considering how most of his business deals and casinos went bankrupt before he ever even considered running for the presidency.

Of course, the Democrats shriek about this, seeming to forget that the Clinton and Biden Crime Families enriched themselves to the tune of several hundred million.

Their "logic" is that, since the Clintons and the Bidens didn't screw the American taxpayer by as nearly as much as the Trumps have that they are "better" and "cleaner" than the Trumps.

It's always different when the crooks are your own.

Which, of course, is sheer bullshit.

The American people have been treated to a veritable yutz parade of presidents for the last thirty-four years, each more incompetent and corrupt than the last.

That's because both the Democratic and Republican candidates for the presidency have been corrupt, incompetent or just plain evil.

American voters get to choose between the two evils puked up at them by the Democratic and Republican national committees, and their choices exude the stench of demagoguery, not for any concern for the wants and needs of the majority of American citizens.

That means that there aren't any real choices, which is exactly the way the national committees want it.

This pattern is followed along state and local lines as well.

Both parties are Hell-bent on destroying the other while enriching themselves in the process and throwing a few crumbs at Americans when they are elected, so nothing really changes.

Except the National Debt, which has now reached $40 trillion!

That debt is unsustainable.

Servicing the debt costs American taxpayers over a trillion dollars each year, with no end in sight.

In 2016, The Donald claimed he would reduce the National Debt by $20 trillion.

He didn't then and he sure as Hell isn't doing it now.

As for Congress, nobody comes out of the House and the Senate poorer than when they went in.

That's the big problem with our government.

Both sides enrich themselves through corruption and then call their opponents out for doing the same thing, not realizing the polarizing effect this has on Americans.

And the truth is simply that most politicians simply do not care what Americans think of them...as long as they get re-elected and their scandals of which there are plenty don't become too public to derail their chances of re-election.

That is why there has never been a serious debate on eliminating corruption in government because too many politicians of both political parties profit tremendously from it.

I wrote "both" because, for all intents and purposes, there ARE only two political parties active in the US.

The smaller fringe parties count for nothing.

In the long run, both parties look and act much the same, and voting for one or the other is like giving a condemned man his choice of execution.

Even worse is the cumbersome bureaucracy of government, which usually seems only to muddle along and seems incapable of taking a proactive stance in the governance of America.

It is they who have allowed The Donald to become a near dictator.

It is they who have allowed The Donald to pursue his harebrained schemes, seemingly unable to stop him.

And it is they who are unable to remove a clearly insane man from the presidency.

To do Congress some justice, the polarization of the American people has produced a government nearly split down the middle, giving the Republicans a razor-thin majority in the House and an only slightly better majority in the Senate, not enough to remove our crazy big orange pig from the presidency by constitutional means.

And still, everyone is awaiting the mid-term elections for this year, either praying for a miracle that will give Democrats control of Congress or retaining the Republican majority there.

Either way, it is the American people who will lose.

We are too divided and too distrustful of the government to hope for much more than to receive a few crumbs from it and to be left alone to deal with increasing inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.

Americans have become too downtrodden by the antics of our political leaders for there to be Neroism in the air.

But the mere fact that we can still talk about it indicates that hope is present in the swamp that is US government.

But not much.

As for mirrors, do politicians even see their reflections at all?

Probably not.

What paranormal conclusions can be drawn from that?
